The First International Medical Tourism Forum in Tashkent: Synergy Between JCI Standards and International Expertise

On August 25–26, AKFA Medline University Hospital — Uzbekistan’s only private JCI-accredited hospital — hosted a landmark event for Central Asia. More than 150 participants from six countries gathered to discuss strategies for advancing medical tourism at a facility recognized for meeting the gold standard in healthcare quality. Its JCI accreditation facilitates direct patient referral agreements without the need for additional administrative assessments.
Key Takeaways from Participants and Speakers:
Alexey Klevasov, Founder and CEO of Zdravmedtech-Asia, General Partner of the Forum:

“This forum is a key platform for dialogue among healthcare professionals. It will help us raise the standards of medical care even further — always with the patient's best interests at heart.

We would like to thank the organizers — the international magazine Medicine&Business, represented by Larisa Naumenko, and AKFA Medline, represented by Azimjon Nazirjonovich — for the opportunity to participate.”

Presentation Topic: “Disposable Medical Apparel and Linens as Drivers of Trust in Medical Tourism: From Infection Prevention to Premium Patient Care.”
Rajmohan Amonkar, Speaker from India:
“On behalf of our Indian partners, I would like to express our gratitude for the invitation and the excellent organization of this event. Your contribution to the development of international medical tourism will be greatly appreciated by all participants. We look forward to taking part in similar forums in the future.”
Artem Bakushev, Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgeon at the Estestvennaya Molodost (Natural Youth) Clinic, Russia:
“The forum demonstrated the tremendous potential of international collaboration in healthcare. I was particularly impressed by the level of medical development in Uzbekistan — its systematic approach, advanced technologies, and strong commitment to quality.

We are open to joint projects and see significant opportunities for future cooperation.”

Presentation Topic: “Youth by Design: Clinical Case Studies, Patient Experience, and Strategic Partnerships.”
Anastasia Gruzman, Participant from Russia:
“A medical forum is like a talent competition, where every participant demonstrates the extraordinary lengths they are willing to go to — and there is no better way to put it — for the sake of people's health and education.”
Anna Minina, Forum Participant:
“The event was exceptionally well organized, with remarkable attention to every detail. The warmth and hospitality of the people make you fall in love with this country! I was particularly impressed by the incredible concentration of highly skilled professionals at the forum.

For us, this forum was an opportunity not only to learn from international experience but also to showcase the capabilities of healthcare in Russia’s Altai Krai region to the professional community.

Events like this create a valuable platform for physicians, clinic executives, and medical coordinators from different countries to engage in meaningful dialogue, exchange best practices, and work together to advance medical tourism.”
Ekaterina Serebryakova, CEO and Chief Medical Officer of Serebryakov Dental Clinic.

The Forum Program featured plenary sessions, panel discussions, B2B networking sessions, a guided tour of Central Asia’s largest medical center — equipped with robotic surgical systems, MRI, CT, and angiography facilities — and a gala dinner.
